New Corby Tesco grand opening

On Thursday 24th January Tesco opened its new store in Corby. I joined Corby mayor Mohammed Rahman and store manager George King to cut the ribbon outside the shop.

In total the store has created 350 jobs for local people, with 100 of the jobs going to people who live in Corby and have been out of work for more than six months.

Statistics show that the longer people are out of work, the harder it becomes to get a job. So it’s brilliant to see Corby Council, Tresham College, Jobcentre Plus and Tesco working together to support local people and the local economy.

I hope all the new employees go on to have good careers in retail.
